Recent research shows a link between mood disorders and damage to the gut microbiota. Researchers have discovered that chronic stress causes harmful changes in the gut mic出robiota, resulting in depressive-like behaviors. Simply transferring the microbiota from an animal with mood disorders to a healthy animal was enough to cause depressive-like behaviors in the latter.
